Over 150 foreign students from countries such as Indonesia, India, and Vietnam attended the seminar. Officer Weng from the Foreign Affairs Division conducted the safety and anti-human trafficking presentation in English, engaging directly with the students and receiving positive feedback.
The seminar also covered common scams, such as installment payment schemes, fake friendships, and fraudulent rental offers. Students were urged to adhere to the "three no principles" of "Listen, Hang Up, and Verify" to prevent becoming victims. Additionally, the "1990 Consultation Service Hotline for Foreign Nationals" was promoted, offering assistance in multiple languages and three-way calling services to help foreign students with living and residency issues in Taiwan.
The Wufeng Police Bureau noted that there are approximately 11,835 foreign residents in the Wufeng and Dali areas, with a significant number being foreign workers and international students primarily enrolled at Asia University, Chaoyang University of Technology, and Hsiuping University of Science and Technology.
Campus safety is a priority for the police. To protect students from harm, the Wufeng Police Bureau has developed crime hotspot maps and established a list of safe corridor businesses around various schools. Through this seminar, the bureau aims to strengthen students' understanding of basic legal concepts and self-defense awareness, creating a safe and friendly learning environment through collaboration among schools, police, and the students themselves.
