  • FQA5: What is E-Visa?

The e-visa is an official document issued by the Republic of China in foreign missions to allow foreigners to enter the Republic of China (Taiwan) and travel within the country. E-visa is another new option that replaces the paper visa issued by the Republic of China in foreign missions. Applicants will obtain an e-visa after filling in the necessary basic personal information, paying with a card (MasterCard or Visa), and verifying their identity. After the e-visa has passed the review, the visa issuance system of the Consular Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will automatically send a visa approval notice to the email address designated by the applicant. The applicant can download/print the e-visa using the web link contained in the notice. The passport inspectors of the Border Affairs Brigade of the Immigration Department of the Ministry of the Interior will check/confirm your e-visa based on the e-visa issuance record on the system screen when the applicant enters Taiwan with the e-visa. We strongly recommend that you print and save your e-visa in paper form to prevent any system errors. As with current paper visa holders, immigration officials at the entry airport/port have the right to refuse the entry of e-visa holders without any reason.
