Alien Resident Certificate (ARC)
⚠️Only accept online applications⚠️1.Introduction
International students (including overseas Chinese students) must apply for an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) within 30 days after arriving in Taiwan.- Validity: 1 year
- Renewal: Annually until graduation
- Processing time: Approximately 7-14 working days
- (Receipt of payment must be shown when collecting ARC)
2.Required Documents for First-Time Application
- Application Form
- Passport (valid for at least 6 months; original and photocopy)
- Visa (inside passport)
- Letter of enrollment certificate(Getting one from Academic Affairs Office)
- One 2-inch color photograph(the exact specifications as for a national ID card)
- Proof of Accommodationor residential lease agreement(Dormitory application form with OIA stamp)
- Application Fee
- Foreign students: NT$1,000
- Overseas Chinese students: NT$500
- Other Documents (e.g., Taiwan scholarship certificate, health check report; required depending on visa conditions)
3.ARC Extension
⚠️Apply for renewal within 3 month before ARC expiration⚠️
Required Documents:
- Apply for ARC extension 30 days before expiration.
- Passport and ARC (original and photocopy)
- Student ID or proof of enrollment for the current semester (original and photocopy)
- Application Fee: NT$1,000
4.Important Notes

Late applications, failure to renew, or overstaying may result in hefty fines

Any changes in personal information must be reported to the Immigration Office within 30 days (including changes of address)

ARC is an important identity document for foreign students in Taiwan; it is required for bank accounts, National Health Insurance, work permits, etc.
