Asia Management College Passed AACSB Maintenance of Accreditation Revie
Asia Management College (AMC) of Asia University (AU) has been a member of AACSB since 2007 and passed its first accreditation in February 2017. The AMC Dean, AACSB chief executive officers, and the entire faculty and staff have worked in concert for the past five years, and passed again the continuous improvement review in February 2022.
AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) was established in the United States in 1916. At present, there are more than 16,000 business schools spanning more than 100 countries around the world. Out of them, approximately 900 have passed the AACSB accreditation, which occupy less than 5% of the total ones. Therefore, AACSB accreditation is of no doubt of great value and is recognized internationally as one of the three top business management education accreditation in the world.
In our initial accreditation, the Peer Review Team (PRT) of the Self-Evaluation Review (SER) highly recognized the school’s determination in artificial intelligence and sustainable development. Although it has been affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic during these five years, the AU still has many innovations under this difficult circumstance, such as X Laboratory, including: AU Eats that cooperates with food service providers of student restaurant, AI Reading Café that cooperates with the library, and AU Bon Bon served as an e-commerce marketing platform, in order to bridge the school-world connection in the field of artificial intelligence.
Again, the PRT of the Continuous Improvement Review (CIR), which consisted of the chair, Dean Ross James, from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, the member, Dean Wilert Puriwat, from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, and the member, Dean Paul Tesluk, from State University of New York at Buffalo in the United States, highly recognized the school's efforts and investments in business management education and accreditation, as well as the dedication of the administrative team led by Dean 林君維 to strive for excellence in becoming a preeminent business school in Taiwan. The PRT also commended AMC’s strong connections with industries and industry-university cooperation outcomes. Furthermore, the PRT gave AMC valuable and constructive suggestions for internationalization strategies based on the characteristics and development of the school. In addition to encouraging the school to apply for the European EQUIS accreditation, they highly expect that AMC will demonstrate excellent performance in AI applications and financial data technology development.
This continuous improvement review visit came to end successfully on November 19, 2021. Thanks to the two chief executive officers, Pei-Kuan LIN and Mei-hua HUANG for their leadership, coordination, communication, and dedication during the whole preparation period before and after the accreditation visits; professor Tswn-Syau TSAY and AACSB office assistant Luka CHEN for their assistance in coping with all relevant supporting document archives; and AACSB faculty representative team, namely: professor Yuh-Jiuan PARNG (chairlady of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems), professors Kun-Cheng CHEN and Yeneneh Tamirat NEGASH (faculty of the Department of Business Administration), professors Li-Shiue GAU and Lan-Lan CHANG (faculty of the Department of Leisure and Recreation Management), and professors Chun-Pin CHANG and Meng-Jou LU (faculty of the Department of Finance) to assist in writing the continuous improvement report and having a number of discussion meetings with the PRT on the implementation outcomes of AMC which has been striving for excellence in the areas of teaching, research, service and academic-industry cooperation. More thanks are given to the above four department chairpersons, faculty members and staffs for their contribution during the accreditation visit. It is believed that all of these efforts along with the AACSB continuous improvement spirits will lead AMC to gradually achieve the educational goal of becoming a preeminent business school.
